What is the lake of fire? Where will it be located? What are the effects of it? Is it eternal torment, annihilation or restoration? How will it effect the devil an his angels?

Maybe the lake of fire is a cleansing place for the ones who didn't have a change of heart and mind while on earth. God is describe with fire in the Old testament, and he is also describe as water (Lake) "The Word, or Spirit." I don't think it's literal. I hope it's not. But it does seem logical to say that the "fire" will bring people to change and repent and love. Just me. God is love, and God is wise.

Note: "GODRULES," not enough space.
The scriptural "lake of fire" is a metaphor for the effect of the presence of the heavenly Father in the fullness of His radiant glory which is throughout the world to come (after the resurrection of the dead), as He is experienced by the souls of those resurrected [all people are resurrected, after death,] according to how each soul is prepared for that presence. As. the Apostles of Jesus are judging the twelve tribes of Israel (q.v.), and "judging" is not only punishment's -- in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, etc. -- but also reward, there is at least some change in the receptivity of souls to God for those who die not saints that can occur -- at least for those who are not "twice dead, plucked up by the roots." See also, 1st Cor. 3:10-15o souls, read Isaiah 3310

Yes, the way you are explaining it makes sense..
Someone was asking me if the Greek term used in Revelation was "torture". And I told him it was "testing" and also referring to refinement, as it had to do with testing of metals that are being "purified".
So it is a purification process so all can be able to enter God's presence and Heaven.

Hi -- I just found this site and am enjoying a bit of surfing here. So nice to discover ongoing conversations, too.

I agree that the LoF can be associated with our God (who is a consuming fire). I believe that it is largely symbolic and that certainly the fire image is symbolic. The purpose of the fire is to purify. Hence I also see a type of the LoF in the Bronze Laver of the Tabernacle or Bronze Sea of the Temple. The original laver being made of the donated mirrors of the women who served at the doorway of the tent of meeting (a type of judgment -- seeing one's face in the mirror). The laver was of course used as part of the purification rituals required of the priests before entering the Holy Place.
Also, it's comforting to note that the LoF is just outside the gates (open gates) of Jerusalam. The Spirit and the Bride say COME! Let the one who is thirsty come and drink of the water of life without cost. It is a lake (out of which swimmers generally just walk to shore), and there is an invitation. If you're thirsty, come and drink. Who is thirsty but the one languishing in the LoF? Certainly not those in the Holy City. Whoever drinks this water will never thirst again. It can only be the anguished souls in the LoF. Come and drink. God is good.

Just two scriptures that popped in my head:
Heb 10:31 and Heb 12:29
When God disciplines sometimes it feels very hard, although ultimately it's the correction of course. When we go through firey trials it feels like hell. After you're done you NEVER want to do this again.

The term Basanizo
ORIGINALLY meant refinement
http://www.biblestudytools.com/lexicons ... anizo.htmlFor example when Jesus and hes disciples were at lake gennesaret and Jesus fell a sleep, there boat was taken over by a
STORM!"in the midst of the sea,
TOSSED with waves: for the wind was contrary"
Matthew 14:24
http://www.bibletools.org/index.cfm/fus ... /opt/interWas the boat therefor either tortured or destroyed?
Neither! It was simply tested or vexed
But if you try to teach that, they will just
KICK YOU out of any church, just like they did with me

But as for those who disbelieve, garments of fire will be cut out for them, boiling fluid will be poured down their heads. Whereby that which is in their bellies, and their skins too, will be melted; And for them are hooked rods of iron. Whenever, in their anguish, they would go forth from thence they are driven back therein and (it is said unto them): Taste the doom of burning [Quran Verses 22:19-22]
