Okay i will preface this with I heard it in a History channel documentary. One scholar was making comments about the Revelation of Peter and why it was not accepted into the canon of scripture.

He said that at the end of the book Peter who was in Heaven with Jesus viewing Hell. So what i assume from this comment is that they are in the same place the rich ruler who was in torment was. There is the gap in between and they can see each other across the chasm.

Peter turns to Jesus and asks, "Why are there so many people still in hell?" Jesus then says that they don't have to be but can be brought into Heaven if the saints make petition to God for their forgiveness.

So has anyone read this passage themselves or know where to find source material for this?

It seems to me like there are the overcomers mentioned in John's Revelation when he speaks to the churches. he says overcome. this group of overcomers, of whom Christ is the first, are able to join God in his dwelling and having this ground with him are able to speak to him and make petition concerning those in torment.

Carried to extent we need people who overcome and are able to forgive more and more until there is a universal salvation.
