For best results, use on clean, flat surfaces with smooth finish. Objects with textured, brushed or satin finishes or surface variations degrade the air-tightness of vacuum seal reducing lift capacity. In our tests, the cups were placed on flat 18-ga sheet metal with semi-gloss finish and lift was applied at 90-degrees until cups broke free - consistently requiring more than 50 lbs of lift.
