A safety valve regulates the steam pressure. This is the smaller of two sizes of stovetop espresso maker by Bodum, measuring 7-1/2 inches tall and 3-3/8 inches in diameter at the base. The 12-ounce capacity pours approximately one large mug or a two smaller cups of coffee. After use, the espresso maker can be unscrewed and every piece placed in the dishwasher or quickly washed by hand. Caution: Use a small burner whose diameter matches the bottom of the espresso maker as closely as possible, and make sure the handle is not directly over the heat from the burner.
