Water flows through a coconut shell carbon which is a high quality carbon. It also flows through a 6 stage cartridge that has KDF 55, KDF 85, coconut shell carbon, ion exchange resin and two 1 micron filter pads. The first stage water flows through 20 inch solid carbon cartridge to remove insecticides, pesticides, industrial solvents and other contaminants. Stage 2 and 7 water flows through a one micron filter pad to filter out suspended particles. Like silt, sediment, sand, dirt, and other un-dissolved matter. In stage 3 water flows through coconut shell carbon to remove organic contaminants like chlorine, pesticides, herbicides, (VOC's,) PCB's, MTBE's, insecticides and hundreds more of chemical contaminants from your water. Then stage 4 water flows through an ion exchange resin to remove or reduce heavy metals like lead, copper, aluminum and water hardness. KDF also removes heavy metals like mercury, nickel, chromium, cadmium, lead, copper, and other dissolved heavy metals.
