Enable wireless communications between multiple home Weather Direct devices with this Weather Direct Gateway from La Crosse Technology. A great upgrade for any Weather Direct LITE forecast systems, the gateway connects with up to twenty wireless devices at once. The gateway transmits weather forecasts and information from the internet to these devices for display. Additionally, it receives weather data collected by certain Weather Direct sensors to upload to the internet and into spreadsheets for record-keeping and analysis. The gateway communicates with wireless devices up to 330 feet away unobstructed.Equipped with an AC power adaptor, the gateway consumes less than one watt for energy efficiency and conservation. A provided LAN cable connects the gateway to a network router for secure wireless transmissions 24 hours a day, regardless of whether network computers are on or not. Registration of the gateway necessitates pressing the gray button on the device. With a mounting bracket supplied for optional wall hanging, the gateway should be placed in an accessible location with its antenna pointed up. If the user wishes to mount the gateway further away from the router, a longer LAN cable may be employed as long as it is a standard Category 5 network cable and not a crossover cable.
