Sevylor Pointer Inflatable 1-Person Kayak: Sports & Outdoors. In the ensuing years, Sevylor first developed a PVC that had memory--meaning it could return to its original shape regardless of temperature--and then made history by releasing an inflatable pool mattress with a headrest and circular pockets. Offering the same high-performance features as a traditional kayak but in an inflatable body, the Sevylor Pointer one-person kayak is made for performance and reliability. The Pointer is made of durable 20-gauge PVC, with an ABS structural frame that sheds water beautifully. As a result, the Pointer gracefully glides through whitewater, with a whitewater spray cover and apron to protect your lower extremities. The kayak also includes such rugged construction details as a pointed, rigid bow and stern, a flat bottom design, and an extra-durable fabric-reinforced bottom and sides. The Pointer is comfortable enough for daylong trips thanks to the padded seat, which includes a backrest for support. Storage-wise, the kayak features a rear cargo hatch with a cover, bungee lacing on the deck, and four tie-downs for securing topside cargo or a spare paddle. The Pointer even comes with a water bottle holder and a luggage-type storage/carrying bag. And as with all Sevylor boats, the Pointer's exclusive Airtight system is guaranteed not to leak. Other features include lifting handles on the bow and stern, Double-Lock valves that prevent accidental air loss, and a handy repair kit. Certified by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), the one-person Pointer measures 10 feet 5 inches by 2 feet 11 inches and holds up to 300 pounds. About Sevylor The road from Sevylor's founding in 1948 to its current role as the dominant supplier of a wide range of inflatables--such as kayaks, boats, and towables--is a long one, with plenty of original inventions and innovations along the way. Established in a city suburb of Vitry, France, by electronics engineer Berco Grimbert, Sevylor originally built electrical accessories, with a sideline business dedicated to using its high-frequency welding machines to manufacture PVC consumer goods. The first inflatable to receive rave notice was a small bathtub called the Dou Dou. Perfect for postwar France, the inflatable tub was portable, convenient, practical, easy to clean, durable, and, best of all, affordable. After moving to the picturesque Alsatian village of Buhl, the company expanded into developing valves, pumps, boats, inflatable pools, and a variety of water toys. In 1986, the company invented the Ski Bob, a real turning point in the evolution of the towables business.
