As a level 2 kit, the assembly is fairly easy--especially because the instructions are well illustrated and all the pieces are numbered. But bear in mind that that this kit does require significant patience, considering all the gluing involved. Most 8-year-olds can figure out the assembly but will probably need plenty of adult assistance with the gluing and detailed painting (model glue and paints are not included).
