John Gill's Bible Commentary Ver. 9. And bringeth it not to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer it unto the Lord , etc.] In a public manner, by one of the priests of the Lord; by which it might appear that he did not take upon him to be a priest himself, nor to offer it to an idol: even that man shall be cut off from his people ; from being one of them, and having communion with them, and sharing in their privileges; or by death, either by the hand of the civil magistrate, or rather by the hand of God; so Jarchi, his seed shall be cut off, and his days shall be cut off; that is, he shall die childless, and in the midst of his days, a violent and premature death. Also (see Gill on “ Leviticus 17:4”).
Matthew Henry Commentary
Verses 10-16 - Here is a confirmation of the law against eating blood. They must ea no blood. But this law was ceremonial, and is now no longer in force the coming of the substance does away the shadow. The blood of beast is no longer the ransom, but Christ's blood only; therefore there is not now the reason for abstaining there then was. The blood is no allowed for the nourishment of our bodies; it is no longer appointed to make an atonement for the soul. Now the blood of Christ makes atonemen really and effectually; to that, therefore, we must have regard, an not consider it as a common thing, or treat it with indifference _________________________________________________
