Adam Clarke's Bible Commentary Verse 9. Prophesy unto the wind] jwr ruach. Address thyself to the soul, and command it to enter into these well- organized bodies, that they may live.
Come from the four winds] SOULS, come frown all parts where ye are scattered; and reanimate these bodies from; which ye have been so long separated. The four winds signify all parts-in every direction. Literally it is, "Souls, come from the four souls;"Breath, come from the four breaths;" or, "Wind, come from the four winds." But here jwr ruach has both of its most general meanings, wind or breath, and soul.
Matthew Henry Commentary
- A prophecy against Edom.
Ezek. 35:1-9 All who have God against them, have the word of God against them. Those that have a constant hatred to God and his people as the carnal mind has, can only expect to be made desolate for ever.
Ezek. 35:10-15 When we see the vanity of the world in the disappointments, losses, and crosses, which others meet with, instea of showing ourselves greedy of worldly things, we should sit more loos to them. In the multitude of words, not one is unknown to God; not the most idle word; and the most daring is not above his rebuke. In the destruction of the enemies of the church, God designs his own glory and we may be sure that he will not come short of his design. And when the fulness of the Jews and Gentiles shall come into the church, all antichristian opposers shall be destroyed _________________________________________________
