King James Bible - Job 24:24

They are exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all other, and cut off as the tops of the ears of corn.

    World English Bible

They are exalted; yet a little while, and they are gone. Yes, they are brought low, they are taken out of the way as all others, and are cut off as the
tops of the ears of grain.

    Douay-Rheims - Job 24:24

They are lifted up for a little while and shall not stand, and shall be brought down as all things, and shall be taken away, and as the tops of the ears of corn they shall be broken.

    Webster's Bible Translation

They are exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all others, and cut off as the
tops of the ears of corn.

    SEV Biblia, Chapter 24:24

Fueron ensalzados por un poco, y desaparecieron, y son abatidos como cada cual; serán encerrados, y cortados como cabezas de espigas.

    Clarke's Bible Commentary - Job 24:24

Verse 24. They are exalted for a little while ] Such tyrants are exalted for a time, for God putteth down one and raiseth up another; but he turns his hand against them, and they are gone. They are removed by his justice as all of the same character have been and shall be; time and judgment shall mow them down as the grass, and crop them off as the ears of ripe corn.

They may flourish for a time, and continue their oppressions; but they shall at last come to an untimely end. Few tyrants ever visit the eternal world sicca morte, but by a violent death. All Eastern history is full of this great fact.

    Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 18-25 - Sometimes how gradual is the decay, how quiet the departure of a wicke person, how is he honoured, and how soon are all his cruelties an oppressions forgotten! They are taken off with other men, as the harvestman gathers the ears of corn as they come to hand. There wil often appear much to resemble the wrong view of Providence Job takes in this chapter. But we are taught by the word of inspiration, that thes notions are formed in ignorance, from partial views. The providence of God, in the affairs of men, is in every thing a just and wis providence. Let us apply this whenever the Lord may try us. He cannot do wrong. The unequalled sorrows of the Son of God when on earth unless looked at in this view, perplex the mind. But when we behol him, as the sinner's Surety, bearing the curse, we can explain why he should endure that wrath which was due to sin, that Divine justic might be satisfied, and his people saved __________________________________________________________________
