Adam Clarke's Bible Commentary Verse 1. Whoso loveth instruction ] rswm musar, discipline or correction, loves knowledge; for correction is the way to knowledge.
But he that hateth reproof is brutish. ] r[b baar, he is a bear; and expects no more benefit from correction than the ox does from the goad.
