Douay-Rheims - 1 Kings 22:32

So when the captains of the chariots saw Josaphat, they suspected that he was the king of Israel, and making a violent assault they fought against him: and Josaphat cried out.

Webster's Bible Translation

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely it is the king of Israel. And they turned aside to fight against him: and Jehoshaphat cried out.

VERSE (32) -
Pr 13:20

SEV Biblia, Chapter 22:32

Y cuando los capitanes de los carros vieron a Josafat, dijeron: Ciertamente este es el rey de Israel; y vinieron contra él para pelear con él; mas el rey Josafat gritó.

John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 32. And it came to pass, when the
captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat , etc.] In his royal robes: that they said, surely it is the king of Israel ; for they might not know the persons either of Ahab or him, but judged by his habit: and they turned aside to fight against him ; pressed upon him with all their force, either to take him or slay him: and Jehoshaphat cried out ; with a loud voice, either to the captains to let them know who he was, or to his men to come to his assistance, or rather to God to help and deliver him; since it is said in ( 2 Chronicles 18:31) that the Lord helped him, and moved or inclined the hearts of the captains to depart from him, as it follows here. Ver. 33 . And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel , etc.] Against whom only their orders were to fight: that they turned back from pursuing him ; for upon so great a force coming upon him he could not withstand, he fled.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 29-40 -
Ahab basely intended to betray Johoshaphat to danger, that he migh secure himself. See what they get that join with wicked men. How can it be expected that he should be true to his friend, who has been false to his God! He had said in compliment to Ahab, I am as thou art, and no he was indeed taken for him. Those that associate with evil-doers, ar in danger of sharing in their plagues. By Jehoshaphat's deliverance God let him know, that though he was displeased with him, yet he ha not deserted him. God is a friend that will not fail us when othe friends do. Let no man think to hide himself from God's judgment. God directed the arrow to hit Ahab; those cannot escape with life, whom God has doomed to death. Ahab lived long enough to see part of Micaiah' prophecy accomplished. He had time to feel himself die; with what horror must he have thought upon the wickedness he had committed!
