King James Bible - Genesis 27:23

And he discerned him not, because his hands were hairy, as his brother Esau's hands: so he blessed him.

World English Bible

He didn't recognize him, because his hands were hairy, like his brother, Esau's hands. So he blessed him.

Douay-Rheims - Genesis 27:23

He said: Art thou my son Esau? He answered: I am.

Webster's Bible Translation

And he discerned him not, because his hands were hairy, as his brother Esau's hands: So he blessed him.

SEV Biblia, Chapter 27:23

Y no le conoció, porque sus manos eran vellosas como las manos de Esaś; y le bendijo.

Clarke's Bible Commentary - Genesis 27:23

Verse 23. And he discerned him not, because his
hands were hairy] From this circumstance we may learn that Isaac's sense of feeling was much impaired by his present malady. When he could not discern the skin of a kid from the flesh of his son, we see that he was, through his infirmity, in a fit state to be imposed on by the deceit of his wife, and the cunning of his younger son.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 18-29 -
Jacob, with some difficulty, gained his point, and got the blessing This blessing is in very general terms. No mention is made of the distinguishing mercies in the covenant with Abraham. This might be owing to Isaac having Esau in his mind, though it was Jacob who wa before him. He could not be ignorant how Esau had despised the bes things. Moreover, his attachment to Esau, so as to disregard the min of God, must have greatly weakened his own faith in these things. I might therefore be expected, that leanness would attend his blessing agreeing with the state of his mind.
