SEV Biblia, Chapter 5:29

y llamó su nombre Noé, diciendo: Este nos consolará de nuestras obras, y del trabajo de nuestras manos de la tierra, a la cual el SEŃOR maldijo.

Clarke's Bible Commentary - Genesis 5:29

Verse 29. This same shall comfort us] This is an allusion, as some think, to the name a
Noah, which they derive from µjn nacham, to comfort; but it is much more likely that it comes from jn nach or jwn nuach, to rest, to settle, &c. And what is more comfortable than rest after toil and labour? These words seem to have been spoken prophetically concerning Noah, who built the ark for the preservation of the human race, and who seems to have been a typical person; for when he offered his sacrifice after the drying up of the waters, it is said that God smelled a savour of REST, and said he would not curse the ground any more for man's sake, chap. viii. 21; and from that time the earth seems to have had upon an average the same degree of fertility; and the life of man, in a few generations after, was settled in the mean at threescore years and ten. See chap. ix. 3.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 25-32 - Methuselah signifies, `he
dies, there is a dart,' `a sending forth, namely, of the deluge, which came the year that Methuselah died. He lived 969 years, the longest that any man ever lived on earth; but the longest liver must die at last. Noah signifies rest; his parents gav him that name, with a prospect of his being a great blessing to his generation. Observe his father's complaint of the calamitous state of human life, by the entrance of sin, and the curse of sin. Our whol life is spent in labour, and our time filled up with continual toil God having cursed the ground, it is as much as some can do, with the utmost care and pains, to get a hard livelihood out comfort us." I signifies not only that desire and expectation which parents generall have about their children, that they will be comforts to them an helpers, though they often prove otherwise; but it signifies also prospect of something more. Is Christ ours? Is heaven ours? We nee better comforters under our toil and sorrow, than the dearest relation and the most promising offspring; may we seek and find comforts in Christ __________________________________________________________________
