King James Bible - Job 12:5

He that is ready to slip with his feet is as a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.

    World English Bible

In the thought of him who is at ease there is contempt for misfortune. It is ready for them whose
    foot slips.

    Douay-Rheims - Job 12:5

The lamp despised in the thoughts of the rich, is ready for the time appointed.

    Webster's Bible Translation

    He that is ready to
slip with his feet is as a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.

    SEV Biblia, Chapter 12:5

La antorcha es tenida en poco en el pensamiento del próspero; la cual se aparejó contra las caídas de los pies.

    Matthew Henry Commentary

    Verses 1-5 -
Job upbraids his friends with the good opinion they had of their ow wisdom compared with his. We are apt to call reproofs reproaches, an to think ourselves mocked when advised and admonished; this is ou folly; yet here was colour for this charge. He suspected the true caus of their conduct to be, that they despised him who was fallen int poverty. It is the way of the world. Even the just, upright man, if he comes under a cloud, is looked upon with contempt.
