King James Bible - 1 Kings 14:10

Therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all gone.

World English Bible

therefore, behold, I will bring evil on the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam everyone who urinates on a wall, he who is shut up and he who is left at large in Israel, and will utterly sweep away the house of Jeroboam, as a man sweeps away dung, until it is all gone.

Douay-Rheims - 1 Kings 14:10

Therefore behold I will bring evils upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up, and the last in Israel: and I will sweep away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as dung is swept away till all be clean.

Webster's Bible Translation

Therefore behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam the males, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it is all gone.

VERSE (10) -
1Ki 15:25-30 Am 3:6

SEV Biblia, Chapter 14:10

Clarke's Bible Commentary - 1 Kings 14:10

Verse 10. Him that pisseth against the wall] Every male. The phrase should be thus rendered wherever it occurs.

John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 10. Therefore, behold, I will bring
evil upon the house of Jeroboam , etc.] Calamities, destruction, and ruin: and will cut off from Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall ; not leave a dog of his, or rather a male, (see 1 Samuel 25:22) and him that is shut up and left in Israel ; in garrisons or in prisons, in cities or in fields, or in whatsoever situation or circumstances they may be.

Some interpret it of wealth and substance; it signifies an entire destruction it may be of men and goods, (see Deuteronomy 32:36) and will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all gone ; signifying that Jeroboam’s family was as loathsome and abominable to the Lord as dung is to men; and that he would make as clean a riddance of them as men do of dung when they sweep it out, and will not leave the least scrap behind.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 7-20 - Whether we keep an account of God's mercies to us or not, he does; an he will set them in order before us, if we are ungrateful, to ou greater confusion. Ahijah foretells the speedy death of the child the sick, in mercy to him. He only in the house of Jeroboam had affectio for the true worship of God, and disliked the worship of the calves. To show the power and sovereignty of his grace, God saves some out of the worst families, in whom there is some good thing towards the Lord God of Israel. The righteous are removed from the evil to come in thi world, to the good to come in a better world. It is often a bad sig for a family, when the best in it are buried out of it. Yet their deat never can be a loss to themselves. It was a present affliction to the family and kingdom, by which both ought to have been instructed. God also tells the judgments which should come upon the people of Israel for conforming to the worship Jeroboam established. After they left the house of David, the government never continued long in one family, but one undermined and destroyed another. Families and kingdoms are ruine by sin. If great men do wickedly, they draw many others, both into the guilt and punishment. The condemnation of those will be severest, wh must answer, not only for their own sins, but for sins others have bee drawn into, and kept in, by them.
