SEV Biblia, Chapter 26:10
Y Abimelec dijo: ¿Por qué nos has hecho esto? Por poco hubiera dormido alguno del pueblo con tu mujer, y hubieras traído sobre nosotros el pecado.
Clarke's Bible Commentary - Genesis 26:10
Verse 10. Thou shouldest have brought guiltiness upon us.] It is likely that Abimelech might have had some knowledge of God's intentions concerning the family of Abraham, and that it must be kept free from all impure and alien mixtures; and that consequently, had he or any of his people taken Rebekah, the Divine judgment might have fallen upon the land. Abimelech was a good and holy man; and he appears to have considered adultery as a grievous and destructive crime.
Matthew Henry Commentary
Verses 6-11 - There is nothing in Isaac's denial of his wife to be imitated, nor eve excused. The temptation of Isaac is the same as that which overcame his father, and that in two instances. This rendered his conduct the greater sin. The falls of those who are gone before us are so man rocks on which others have split; and the recording of them is lik placing buoys to save future mariners. This Abimelech was not the sam that lived in Abraham's days, but both acted rightly. The sins of professors shame them before those that are not themselves religious.
