John Gill's Bible Commentary Ver. 8. And they shall keep all the instruments of the tabernacle of the congregation , etc.] Take care of them that none be lost or come to any damage, especially while it was moving, and carried from place to place; then the several parts of it, as well as the vessels in it, were committed to their care and charge, the particulars of which see in ( Numbers 3:25,26,31,36,37); and the charge of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle ; (see Gill on “ Numbers 3:7”).
Matthew Henry Commentary
Verses 1-13 - There was much work belonging to the priests' office, and there wer now only Aaron and his two sons to do it; God appoints the Levites to attend them. Those whom God finds work for, he will find help for. The Levites were taken instead of the first-born. When He that made us saves us, as the first-born of Israel were saved, we are laid unde further obligations to serve him faithfully. God's right to us by redemption, confirms the right he has to us by creation.
