¶ Esta es mi respuesta a los que me preguntan:

    Clarke's Bible Commentary - 1 Corinthians 9:3

Verse 3. Mine answer to them] h emh apologia toiv eme anakrinousin? This is my
defense against those who examine me. The words are forensic; and the apostle considers himself as brought before a legal tribunal, and questioned so as to be obliged to answer as upon oath.

His defense therefore was this, that they were converted to God by his means. This verse belongs to the two preceding verses.

    John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 3. Mine answer to them that do examine me is this .] These words are referred by some to the following, as if the apostles answer lay in putting the questions he does in the next verses; but they rather seem to belong to the preceding, and the meaning to be this, that when any persons called in question his apostleship, and examined him upon that head, what he thought fit to say in answer to them, and in defence of himself, was by referring them to the famous church at Corinth, who were as particular persons, and as a church, his work in the Lord, and everyone of them as so many seals of his apostleship; he being the first preacher of the Gospel to them, the founder of them as a church, and the instrument of their conversion.

    Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 1-14 - It is not new for a
minister to meet with unkind returns for good-wil to a people, and diligent and successful services among them. To the cavils of some, the apostle answers, so as to set forth himself as a example of self-denial, for the good of others. He had a right to marr as well as other apostles, and to claim what was needful for his wife and his children if he had any, from the churches, without labourin with his own hands to get it. Those who seek to do our souls good should have food provided for them. But he renounced his right, rathe than hinder his success by claiming it. It is the people's duty to maintain their minister. He may wave his right, as Paul did; but thos transgress a precept of Christ, who deny or withhold due support.

    3. Answer (apologia). See on
    1 Pet. iii. 15.

Examine (anakrinousin). See on Luke xxiii. 14.

    Robertson's NT Word Studies

9:3 {My defence} (he eme apologia). Original sense, not idea of apologizing as we say. See on Ac 22:1; 25:16. Refers to what precedes and to what follows as illustration of #8:13. {To them that examine me} (tois eme anakrinousin). See on 1Co 2:15; 4:3. The critics in Corinth were "investigating" Paul with sharp eyes to find faults. How often the pastor is under the critic's spy-glass.
