SEV Biblia, Chapter 16:21
Entonces el pueblo de Israel fue dividido en dos partes: la mitad del pueblo seguía a Tibni hijo de Ginat, para hacerlo rey; y la otra mitad seguía a Omri.

Verse 21. Divided into two parts] Why this division took place we cannot tell; the people appear to have been for Tibni, the army for Omri; and the latter prevailed.
John Gill's Bible Commentary
Ver. 21. Then were the people of Israel divided into two parts , etc.] About the succession in the kingdom: half the people followed Tibni the son of Ginath, to make him king : these were the friends of Zimri, or however such who did not like that the army should impose a king upon them; who this Tibni was is not said: and half followed Omri ; the general of the army, perhaps the whole of that. Ver. 22 . But the people that followed Omri prevailed against the people that followed Tibni the son of Ginath , etc.] Very probably they had a battle, in which the latter were worsted: so Tibni died ; in the battle: and Omri reigned ; took possession of the throne, his rival being slain.
Matthew Henry Commentary
Verses 15-28 - When men forsake God, they will be left to plague one another. Prou aspiring men ruin one another. Omri struggled with Tibni some years Though we do not always understand the rules by which God govern nations and individuals in his providence, we may learn useful lesson from the history before us. When tyrants succeed each other, an massacres, conspiracies, and civil wars, we may be sure the Lord has controversy with the people for their sins; they are loudly called to repent and reform. Omri made himself infamous by his wickedness. Man wicked men have been men of might and renown; have built cities, an their names are found in history; but they have no name in the book of life.
