King James Bible - 1 Kings 16:11

And it came to pass, when he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, that he slew all the house of Baasha: he left him not one that pisseth against a wall, neither of his kinsfolks, nor of his friends.

World English Bible

It happened, when he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, that he struck all the house of Baasha: he didn't leave him a single one who urinates on a wall, neither of his relatives, nor of his friends.

Douay-Rheims - 1 Kings 16:11

And when he was king and sat upon his throne, he slew all the house of Baasa, and he left not one thereof to piss against a wall, and all his kinsfolks and friends.

Webster's Bible Translation

And it came to pass, when he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, that he slew all the house of Baasha: he left him not one male, neither of his kinsman, nor of his friends.

SEV Biblia, Chapter 16:11

Y luego que llegó a reinar y estuvo sentado en su trono, hirió toda la casa de Baasa, sin dejar en ella meante a la pared, ni sus parientes ni amigos.

Clarke's Bible Commentary - 1 Kings 16:11

Verse 11. He slew all the
house of Baasha] He endeavoured to exterminate his race, and blot out his memory; and the Jews say, when such a matter is determined, they not only destroy the house of the person himself, but the five neighbouring houses, that the memory of such a person may perish from the earth.

John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 11. And it came to pass when he began to
reign, as soon as he sat on his throne , etc.] Perhaps the very first day, that he slew all the house of Baasha ; his whole family, all the children that he had, that there might be none to make pretensions to the throne: he left him not one that pisseth against a wall, neither of his kinsfolks nor of his friends ; not any that might avenge the blood of his family, that might have a right or inclination to do it.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 1-14 - This chapter relates wholly to the
kingdom of Israel, and the revolutions of that kingdom. God calls Israel his people still, thoug wretchedly corrupted. Jehu foretells the same destruction to come upo Baasha's family, which that king had been employed to bring upon the family of Jeroboam. Those who resemble others in their sins, may expec to resemble them in the plagues they suffer, especially those who see zealous against such sins in others as they allow in themselves. Baash himself dies in peace, and is buried with honour. Herein plainl appears that there are punishments after death, which are most to be dreaded. Let Elah be a warning to drunkards, who know not but death ma surprise them. Death easily comes upon men when they are drunk. Beside the diseases which men bring themselves into by drinking, when in tha state, men are easily overcome by an enemy, and liable to ba accidents. Death comes terribly upon men in such a state, finding the in the act of sin, and unfitted for any act of devotion; that day come upon them unawares. The word of God was fulfilled, and the sins of Baasha and Elah were reckoned for, with which they provoked God. Their idols are called their vanities, for idols cannot profit nor help miserable are those whose gods are vanities.
