VERSE (37) -
Mt 27:50 Lu 23:46 Joh 19:30

SEV Biblia, Chapter 15:37

Mas Jesús, dando una grande voz, expiró.

Clarke's Bible Commentary - Mark 15:37

Verse 37. Gave up the
ghost.] This was about three o'clock, or what was termed by the Jews the ninth hour; about the time that the paschal lamb was usually sacrificed. The darkness mentioned here must have endured about two hours and a half. Concerning this eclipse, see on Matt. xxvii. 45.

John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 37. And
Jesus cried with a loud voice , etc..] A second time, and said the words which are in ( Luke 23:46) and in ( John 19:30) and gave up the ghost . The Syriac version renders it, “and finished”: his life, his days, his race, his ministry, and the work which was given him to do; (see Gill on “ Matthew 27:50”).

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 33-41 - There was a thick
darkness over the land, from noon until three in the afternoon. The Jews were doing their utmost to extinguish the Sun of Righteousness. The darkness signified the cloud which the human soul of Christ was under, when he was making it an offering for sin. He did no complain that his disciples forsook him, but that his Father forsoo him. In this especially he was made sin for us. When Paul was to be offered as a sacrifice for the service saints, he could joy an rejoice, Php 2:17; but it is another thing to be offered as a sacrific for the sin of sinners. At the same instant that Jesus died, the vei of the temple was rent from the top to the bottom. This spake terror to the unbelieving Jews, and was a sign of the destruction of their churc and nation. It speaks comfort to all believing Christians, for i signified the laying open a new and living way into the holiest by the blood of Jesus. The confidence with which Christ had openly addresse God as his Father, and committed his soul into his hands, seems greatl to have affected the centurion. Right views of Christ crucified wil reconcile the believer to the thought of death; he longs to behold love, and praise, as he ought, that Saviour who was wounded and pierce to save him from the wrath to come.
