    SEV Biblia, Chapter 12:30

Amars pues al Seor tu Dios de todo tu corazn, y de toda tu alma, y de todo tu pensamiento, y de todas tus fuerzas: este es el principal mandamiento.

    Clarke's Bible Commentary - Mark 12:30

    Verse 30. Thou shalt
love the Lord] On the nature and properties of the love of God and man, and the way in which this commandment is fulfilled, see the notes on Matt. xxii. 37, &c.

    John Gill's Bible Commentary

    Ver. 30. And thou shalt
love the Lord thy God , etc..] Which is to be understood of the one God, Father, Son, and Spirit; for all the three divine persons are to be equally loved, being possessed of the same perfections and excellencies, and having done the same works, and having bestowed like benefits and favours upon men: and though there is now no principle of love to God in men; but, on the contrary, men are enemies to God in their minds, which appears by their wicked works; yet this commandment is still in force, and the obligation to it is the same; the fall of man, the corruption of nature, and the impotency, and even aversion in man to observe this command, do not make it null and void: and in regeneration, when God puts his laws into the heart, and writes them in the mind; love is produced in such persons, to God the Father, who has begotten them again, according to his abundant mercy; and to Christ, who has saved them from their sins; and to the blessed Spirit, who has quickened and comforted them: and this love is in some measure exercised as it should be, and as here directed to, with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind ; that is, with all the powers and faculties of the soul; or with the affections, as under the influence and guidance of the more noble faculties of the soul, the mind, the understanding, judgment, and will: it is added here, which is not in Matthew, and with all thy strength ; which answers to the phrase in ( Deuteronomy 6:5), with all thy might; that is, with the greatest vehemency of affection, in the strongest expressions of it, and with all the strength of grace a man has. This passage follows the former in ( Deuteronomy 6:5) and is what is only cited in ( Matthew 22:37).

    Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 28-34 - Those who sincerely desire to be taught their
duty, Christ will guid in judgment, and teach his way. He tells the scribe that the grea commandment, which indeed includes all, is, that of loving God with all our hearts. Wherever this is the ruling principle in the soul, there is a disposition to every other duty. Loving God with all our heart, wil engage us to every thing by which he will be pleased. The sacrifice only represented the atonements for men's transgressions of the mora law; they were of no power except as they expressed repentance an faith in the promised Saviour, and as they led to moral obedience. An because we have not thus loved God and man, but the very reverse therefore we are condemned sinners; we need repentance, and we nee mercy. Christ approved what the scribe said, and encouraged him. He stood fair for further advance; for this knowledge of the law leads to conviction of sin, to repentance, to discovery of our need of mercy and understanding the way of justification by Christ.

    Vincent's NT Word Studies

    30. With all thy
heart (ex olhv thv kardiav sou). Lit., out of thy whole heart. The heart, not only as the seat of the affections, but as the center of our complex being - physical, moral, spiritual, and intellectual. Soul (yuchv). The word is often used in the New Testament in its original meaning of life. See Matt. ii. 20; xx. 28; Acts xx. 10; Romans xi. 3; John x. 11. Hence, as an emphatic designation of the man himself. See Matt. xii. 18; Heb. x. 38; Luke xxi. 19. So that the word denotes "life in the distinctness of individual existence" (Cremer). See farther on yucikov, spiritual, 1 Cor. xv. 44.

Mind (dianoiav). The faculty of thought: understanding, especially the moral understanding.
