    Mt 8:23 Lu 8:22

    SEV Biblia, Chapter 4:35

¶ Y les dijo aquel día cuando fue tarde: Pasemos al otro lado.

    Clarke's Bible Commentary - Mark 4:35

    Verse 35. Let us pass
over unto the other side.] Our Lord was now by the sea of Galilee.

    John Gill's Bible Commentary

    Ver. 35. And the same
day, when the even was come , etc..] After he had finished his parables among the multitude, and had explained them to his disciples: he saith unto them ; his disciples, let us pass over unto the other side : that is, of the sea of Galilee, or lake of Gennesaret, to the country of the Gadarenes, and Gergesenes; with a view for retirement and rest, after the fatigue of the day; and for the trial of the faith of his disciples, by a storm which he knew would arise, whilst they were on the sea; and for the sake of a miracle he was to work on the other side, after related.

    Matthew Henry Commentary

    Verses 35-41 -
Christ was asleep in the storm, to try the faith of his disciples, an to stir them up to pray. Their faith appeared weak, and their prayer strong. When our wicked hearts are like the troubled sea which cannot rest, when our passions are unruly, let us think we hear the law of Christ, saying, Be silent, be dumb. When without are fightings, an within are fears, and the spirits are in a tumult, if he say, "Peace be still," there is a great calm at once. Why are ye so fearful? Thoug there may be cause for some fear, yet not for such fear as this. Thos may suspect their faith, who can have such a thought as that Jesu careth not though his people perish. How imperfect are the best of saints! Faith and fear take their turns while we are in this world; but ere long, fear will be overcome, and faith will be lost in sight __________________________________________________________________

    Robertson's NT Word Studies

4:35 {When even was come} (oyias genomenes). Genitive absolute. It had been a
busy day. The blasphemous accusation, the visit of the mother and brothers and possibly sisters, to take him home, leaving the crowded house for the sea, the first parables by the sea, qen more in the house, and now out of the house and over the sea. {Let us go over unto the other side} (dielqwmen eis to peran). Hortatory (volitive) subjunctive, second aorist active tense. They were on the western side and a row over to the eastern shore in the evening would be a delightful change and refreshing to the weary Christ. It was the only way to escape the crowds.
