King James Bible - Judges 16:12

Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber. And he brake them from off his arms like a thread.

World English Bible

So Delilah took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said to him, "The Philistines are on you, Samson!" The ambush was waiting in the inner room. He broke them off his arms like a thread.

Douay-Rheims - Judges 16:12

Dalila bound him again with these, and cried out: The Philistines are upon thee, Samson, there being an ambush prepared for him in the chamber. But he broke the bands like threads of webs.

Webster's Bible Translation

Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him with them, and said to him, The Philistines are upon thee, Samson. (And there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber.) And he broke them from off his arms like a thread.

SEV Biblia, Chapter 16:12

Y Dalila tomó cuerdas nuevas, y le ató con ellas, y le dijo: ¡Sansón, los filisteos sobre ti! Y los espías estaban en una cámara. Mas él rompió las cuerdas de sus brazos como un hilo.

John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 12.
Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith , etc.] Tried this experiment with him, according to his directions, being very desirous of getting the sum of money offered her: and said unto him, the Philistines be upon thee, Samson : using the same words, and with the same view as she had done before, ( Judges 16:9) (and there were liers in wait abiding the chamber) ; as before, ready upon occasion to rush in upon him, as soon as any notice was given them: and he brake them from off his arms like a thread ; as easily as a thread of linen can be snapped asunder.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 4-17 -
Samson had been more than once brought into mischief and danger by the love of women, yet he would not take warning, but is again taken in the same snare, and this third time is fatal. Licentiousness is one of the things that take away the heart. This is a deep pit into which man have fallen; but from which few have escaped, and those by a miracle of mercy, with the loss of reputation and usefulness, of almost all except their souls. The anguish of the suffering is ten thousand time greater than all the pleasures of the sin.
