    SEV Biblia, Chapter 10:26

Mas ellos se espantaban ms, diciendo dentro de sí: ¿Y quin podr salvarse?

    John Gill's Bible Commentary

    Ver. 26. And they were
astonished out of measure , etc..] They were still more amazed, their surprise increased exceedingly upon our Lord's using the above comparison; which, in their apprehension, showed, that it was utterly impossible for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God; and they expressed their astonishment, saying, among themselves, who then can be saved ? in the Messiah's kingdom, if rich men are not? (see Gill on Matthew 19:25). The Persic version renders it, how can this man be saved? as if the words had a particular respect to the young man, that had great possessions, and was gone away sorrowful.

    Matthew Henry Commentary

    Verses 23-31 -
Christ took this occasion to speak to his disciples about the difficulty of the salvation of those who have abundance of this world Those who thus eagerly seek the wealth of the world, will never rightl prize Christ and his grace. Also, as to the greatness of the salvatio of those who have but little of this world, and leave it for Christ The greatest trial of a good man's constancy is, when love to Jesu calls him to give up love to friends and relatives. Even when gainer by Christ, let them still expect to suffer for him, till they reac heaven. Let us learn contentment in a low state, and to watch agains the love of riches in a high one. Let us pray to be enabled to par with all, if required, in Christ's service, and to use all we ar allowed to keep in his service.
