SEV Biblia, Chapter 9:48

donde el gusano de ellos no muere, y el fuego nunca se apaga.

John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 48. Where their
worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched .] This is repeated again, not only to assure the truth of the thing, but to raise the attention of the mind unto it, and fix an awful impression upon it: the Persic version renders it, from whence thou shall never find redemption: there is no redemption from hell, as Origen and others have thought.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 41-50 - It is repeatedly said of the
wicked, Their worm dieth not, as well as The fire is never quenched. Doubtless, remorse of conscience and kee self-reflection are this never-dying worm. Surely it is beyond compar better to undergo all possible pain, hardship, and self-denial here and to be happy for ever hereafter, than to enjoy all kinds of worldl pleasure for a season, and to be miserable for ever. Like the sacrifices, we must be salted with salt; our corrupt affections must be subdued and mortified by the Holy Spirit. Those that have the salt of grace, must show they have a living principle of grace in their hearts which works out corrupt dispositions in the soul that would offend God or our own consciences __________________________________________________________________

9:48 {Their
worm} (ho skwlex autwn). "The worm, i.e. that preys upon the inhabitants of this dread realm" (Gould). Two bold figures of gehenna combined (the gnawing worm, the burning flame). No figures of gehenna can equal the dread reality which is here described. See #Isa 66:24.
