VERSE (14) -
Mt 28:8 Lu 24:41

SEV Biblia, Chapter 12:14

La cual, cuando conoci la voz de Pedro, de gozo no abri el postigo, sino corriendo adentro, dio la nueva de que Pedro estaba al postigo.

John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 14. And when she knew Peters voice , etc.] often heard him
preach and converse in the family: she opened not the gate for gladness , filled with joy to hear his voice, and that he was delivered from prison, and in haste to carry the welcome news to the company within, stayed not to open the gate, and let Peter in: but ran in and told how Peter stood before the gate : she went into the house in a great hurry, and related to them within, that Peter was at the door without.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 12-19 -
God's providence leaves room for the use of our prudence, though he ha undertaken to perform and perfect what he has begun. These Christian continued in prayer for Peter, for they were truly in earnest. Thus me ought always to pray, and not to faint. As long as we are kept waitin for a mercy, we must continue praying for it. But sometimes that whic we most earnestly wish for, we are most backward to believe. The Christian law of self-denial and of suffering for Christ, has not don away the natural law of caring for our own safety by lawful means. I times of public danger, all believers have God for their hiding-place which is so secret, that the world cannot find them. Also, the instruments of persecution are themselves exposed to danger; the wrat of God hangs over all that engage in this hateful work. And the rang of persecutors often vents itself on all in its way.

14. She knew. Or recognized.

Robertson's NT Word Studies

12:14 {When she knew} (epignousa). Second aorist (ingressive) active participle of epiginwskw, to know fully or in addition (epi), to recognize. She knew Peter and his voice from his
frequent visits there. {For joy} (apo tes caras). From her joy (ablative case), life-like picture of the maid who left Peter standing outside with the door to the passageway unopened. Note the aorist tenses for quick action (ouk enoixen), eisdramousa (from eistrecw, defective verb, only here in the N.T.), apeggeilen. {Stood} (hestanai). Second perfect active infinitive of histemi, intransitive, in indirect assertion with ton petron (Peter) accusative of general reference. The slave girl acted as if she were a member of the family (Furneaux), but she left Peter in peril.
