    VERSE (29) -
    Ex 15:26 Job 33:24,25 Ps 30:2; 103:3; 107:20; 147:3

    SEV Biblia, Chapter 5:29

Luego la fuente de su sangre se sec; y sinti en el cuerpo que era sana de aquel azote.

    John Gill's Bible Commentary

    Ver. 29. And straightway the
fountain of her blood was dried up , etc..] It was usual with the Jews to call the womb, in which the child is formed, rwqm , a fountain f90 ; and because, from hence, issued the blood in a menstruous and profluvious person, they called it, as here, hymd rwqm , the fountain of her blood f91 ; and sometimes use the same phrase of the drying up of it, as in this place: they say f92 , when a woman is searched and found to be pure, she is forbidden her house, hnyy [ m bgnty d [ , until her fountain be dried up; so that as no blood issued from it, there was none in it, and which was now this woman's case, as she found; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague : she not only found by that quick alteration there was in her animal spirits, which were now free and vigorous; but she perceived, in that part of her body, from whence the issue sprung, that she was perfectly well, and that the disorder was entirely gone, which had been for so many years a sore affliction to her, and a severe correction and chastisement of her, as the word used implies. It properly signifies a scourge, as every affliction is, a scourge for sin; and very likely this woman's disease was on the same account: sometimes afflictions are God's scourges in a way of wrath, and sometimes in a fatherly way, in love: for whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth, ( Hebrews 12:6), and who, as he wounds, he heals, and which is sensibly perceived by his people. The word plague carries in it something more dreadful, and fitly enough expresses the nature of sin, which is a pestilential disease; the corruption of nature, indwelling sin is called the plague of the heart, ( 1 Kings 8:38).

It is a loathsome disease, and without the grace of God, a mortal one; the body of sin, is a body of death; and all sin is of the same nature and kind; the end of it is destruction and death: the healing of it is the forgiveness of sin, which is through the blood of Christ, and the application of it to the soul; which, when made, is sensibly felt, for it immediately produces spiritual joy, peace, and comfort: this makes the bones, which were broken, to rejoice; this bids every son and daughter of the Lord God Almighty to be of good cheer; it causes the inhabitants of Zion to hold their peace, and no more say they are sick, because their sins are forgiven them. And a man may as easily perceive when his spiritual maladies are healed in this way, as when he is cured of any bodily disorder.

    Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 21-34 - A despised gospel will go where it will be better received. One of the rulers of a synagogue earnestly besought Christ for a little daughter about twelve years old, who was dying. Another cure was wrought by the way. We should do good, not only when in the house, but when we walk by the way, De 6:7. It is common with people not to apply to Christ til they have tried in vain all other helpers, and find them, as certainl they will, physicians of no value. Some run to diversions and ga company; others plunge into business, or even into intemperance; other go about to establish their own righteousness, or torment themselves by vain superstitions. Many perish in these ways; but none will ever fin rest to the soul by such devices; while those whom Christ heals of the disease of sin, find in themselves an entire change for the better. A secret acts of sin, so secret acts of faith, are known to the Lor Jesus. The woman told all the truth. It is the will of Christ that his people should be comforted, and he has power to command comfort to troubled spirits. The more simply we depend on Him, and expect grea things from him, the more we shall find in ourselves that he is becom our salvation. Those who, by faith, are healed of their spiritual diseases, have reason to go in peace.

    29. She knew - she was
healed. Note the graphic change in the tenses. egnw, she knew; ijatai she is healed.

    Plague. See on iii. 10.

    Robertson's NT Word Studies

5:29 {She felt in her body} (egnw twi swmati). She knew, the verb means. She said to herself, {I am healed} (iamai). iatai retains the perfect passive in the indirect discourse. It was a vivid moment of joy for her. The plague (mastigos) or scourge was a whip used in flagellations as on Paul to find out his guilt (#Ac 22:24, cf. #Heb 11:26). It is an old word that was used for afflictions regarded as a scourge from God. See already on Mr 3:10.
