King James Bible - Psalms 30:5

For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

    World English Bible

For his anger is but for a moment. His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may stay for the
night, but joy comes in the morning.

    Douay-Rheims - Psalms 30:5

For wrath is in his indignation; and
life in his good will. In the evening weeping shall have place, and in the morning gladness.

    Webster's Bible Translation

For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favor is
life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

    SEV Biblia, Chapter 30:5

Porque un momento hay en su furor; mas en su voluntad está la vida: por la tarde durará el lloro, y a la mañana vendrá la alegría.

    Clarke's Bible Commentary - Psalms 29:5

    Verse 5. For his
anger endureth but a moment ] There is an elegant abruptness in these words in the Hebrew text. This is the literal translation: "For a moment in his anger. Lives in his favour. In the evening weeping may lodge: but in the morning exultation." So good is God, that he cannot delight in either the depression or ruin of his creatures. When he afflicts, it is for our advantage, that we may be partakers of his holiness, and be not condemned with the world. If he be angry with us, it is but for a moment; but when we have recourse to him, and seek his face, his favour is soon obtained, and there are lives in that favour-the life that now is, and the life that is to come. When weeping comes, it is only to lodge for the evening; but singing will surely come in the morning. This description of God's slowness to anger, and readiness to save, is given by a man long and deeply acquainted with God as his Judge and as his Father.

    Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 6-12 - When things are well with us, we are very apt to think that they wil always be so. When we see our mistake, it becomes us to think with
shame upon our carnal security as our folly. If God hide his face, good man is troubled, though no other calamity befall him. But if God in wisdom and justice, turn from us, it will be the greatest folly i we turn from him. No; let us learn to pray in the dark. The sanctifie spirit, which returns to God, shall praise him, shall be still praisin him; but the services of God's house cannot be performed by the dust it cannot praise him; there is none of that device or working in the grave, for it is the land of silence. We ask aright for life, when we do so that we may live to praise him. In due time God delivered the psalmist out of his troubles. Our tongue is our glory, and never mor so than when employed in praising God. He would persevere to the end i praise, hoping that he should shortly be where this would be the everlasting work. But let all beware of carnal security. Neithe outward prosperity, nor inward peace, here, are sure and lasting. The Lord, in his favour, has fixed the believer's safety firm as the deep-rooted mountains, but he must expect to meet with temptations an afflictions. When we grow careless, we fall into sin, the Lord hide his face, our comforts droop, and troubles assail us __________________________________________________________________
