Adam Clarke's Bible Commentary Verse 1. I will sing of the mercies of the Lord ] I will celebrate the mercy of God to the house of Jacob; the mercy that has been shown to our fathers from time immemorial.
To all generations ] What I say concerning thy mercy and goodness, being inspired by thy Spirit, is not only true, but shall be preserved by the Divine providence for ever.

Verses 1-4 - Though our expectations may be disappointed, yet God's promises ar established in the heavens, in his eternal counsels; they are out of the reach of opposers in hell and earth. And faith in the boundles mercy and everlasting truth of God, may bring comfort even in the deepest trials.
