    King James Bible - 1 Kings 13:26

And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard thereof, he said, It is the man of God, who was disobedient unto the word of the LORD: therefore the LORD hath delivered him unto the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake unto him.

    World English Bible

When the prophet who brought him back from the way heard of it, he said, "It is the man of God who was disobedient to the mouth of Yahweh. Therefore Yahweh has delivered him to the lion, which has mauled him and slain him, according to the word of Yahweh, which he spoke to him."

    Douay-Rheims - 1 Kings 13:26

And when that prophet, who had brought him back out of the way, heard of it, he said: It is the man of God, that was disobedient to the mouth of the Lord, and the Lord hath delivered him to the lion, and he hath torn him, and killed him according to the word of the Lord, which he spoke to him.

    Webster's Bible Translation

And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard of it, he said, It is the man of God, who was disobedient to the word of the LORD: therefore the LORD hath delivered him to the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spoke to him.

    SEV Biblia, Chapter 13:26

    John Gill's Bible Commentary

    Ver. 26. And when the
prophet that brought him back from the way heard thereof , etc.] The old prophet, that had deceived him, by telling him a lie: he said, it is the man of God, who was disobedient unto the word of the Lord ; but not a syllable does he say of his own sin in deceiving him; though one would think his own conscience must smite him for it: therefore the Lord hath delivered him unto the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake unto him ; and that by himself, ( 1 Kings 13:21,22).

    Matthew Henry Commentary

    Verses 23-34 -
God is displeased at the sins of his own people; and no man shall be protected in disobedience, by his office, his nearness to God, or an services he has done for him. God warns all whom he employs, strictl to observe their orders. We cannot judge of men by their sufferings nor of sins by present punishments; with some, the flesh is destroyed that the spirit may be saved; with others, the flesh is pampered, tha the soul may ripen for hell. Jeroboam returned not from his evil way He promised himself that the calves would secure the crown to his family, but they lost it, and sunk his family. Those betray themselve who think to support themselves by any sin whatever. Let us drea prospering in sinful ways; pray to be kept from every delusion an temptation, and to be enabled to walk with self-denying perseverance in the way of God's commands __________________________________________________________________
