King James Bible - 1 Kings 2:37

For it shall be, that on the day thou goest out, and passest over the brook Kidron, thou shalt know for certain that thou shalt surely die: thy blood shall be upon thine own head.

World English Bible

For on the day you go out, and pass over the brook Kidron, know for certain that you shall surely die: your blood shall be on your own head."

Douay-Rheims - 1 Kings 2:37

For on what day soever thou shalt go out, and shalt pass over the brook Cedron, know that thou shalt be put to death: thy blood shall be upon thy own head:

Webster's Bible Translation

For it shall be, that on the day thou shalt go out, and pass over the brook Kidron, thou shalt know for certain that thou shalt surely die: thy blood shall be upon thy own head.

SEV Biblia, Chapter 2:37

porque sabe de cierto que el día que salieres, y pasares el arroyo de Cedrón, sin duda morirás, y tu sangre será sobre tu cabeza.

Clarke's Bible Commentary - 1 Kings 2:37

Verse 37. Thy
blood shall be upon thine own head.] Thou knowest what to expect; if thou disobey my orders thou shalt certainly be slain, and then thou shalt be considered as a self-murderer; thou alone shalt be answerable for thy own death. Solomon knew that Shimei was a seditious man, and he chose to keep him under his own eye; for such a man at large, in favourable circumstances, might do much evil. His bitter revilings of David were a sufficient proof.

John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 37. For it shall be, [that] on the day thou goest out , etc.] Out of the city of
Jerusalem: and passest over the brook Kidron: which is particularly mentioned, because this lay in his way to Bahurim, his native place; he must cross that to go to it, (see 2 Samuel 15:23 16:5); and where it might reasonably be supposed he would some time or another be inclined to go, through business, or a desire to see it again: thou shalt know for certain that thou shall surely die : it may be depended on as what will be most certainly the case; no reprieve nor pardon will be granted: thy blood shall be on thine own head ; fair warning being given, he could blame none but himself, should he be guilty and suffer.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 35-46 - The old
malignity remains in the unconverted heart, and a watchful ey should be kept on those who, like Shimei, have manifested their enmity but have given no evidence of repentance. No engagements or danger will restrain worldly men; they go on, though they forfeit their live and souls. Let us remember, God will not accommodate his judgment to us. His eye is over us; and let us strive to walk as in his presence Let our every act, word, and thought, be governed by this great truth that the hour is quickly coming when the smallest circumstances of ou lives shall be brought to light, and our eternal state be fixed by righteous and unerring God. Thus Solomon's throne was established in peace, as the type of the Redeemer's kingdom of peace an righteousness. And it is a comfort, in reference to the enmity of the church's enemies, that, how much soever they rage, it is a vain thin they imagine. Christ's throne is established, and they cannot shake it __________________________________________________________________
