King James Bible - 2 Kings 14:26

For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.

World English Bible

For Yahweh saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter; for there was none shut up nor left at large, neither was there any helper for Israel.

Douay-Rheims - 2 Kings 14:26

For the Lord saw the affliction of Israel that it was exceeding bitter, and that they were consumed even to them that were shut up in prison, and the lowest persons, and that there was no one to help Israel.

Webster's Bible Translation

For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.

SEV Biblia, Chapter 14:26

Por cuanto el SEÑOR miró la muy amarga aflicción de Israel; que no había nadie guardado ni quedado, ni quien diese ayuda a Israel;

Clarke's Bible Commentary - 2 Kings 14:26

Verse 26. The
Lord saw the affliction of Israel] It appears that about this time Israel had been greatly reduced; and great calamities had fallen upon all indiscriminately; even the diseased and captives in the dungeon had the hand of God heavy upon them, and there was no helper; and then God sent Jonah to encourage them, and to assure them of better days. He was the first of the prophets, after Samuel, whose writings are preserved; yet the prophecy delivered on this occasion is not extant; for what is now in the prophecies of Jonah, relates wholly to Nineveh.

John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 26. For the
Lord saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter , etc.] Being sorely oppressed by their enemies, especially the Syrians; and he was moved to have compassion upon them, and show mercy to them: for, there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel: they were in the most forlorn and helpless condition; (see Gill on “ Deuteronomy 32:36”).

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 23-29 -
God raised up the prophet Jonah, and by him declared the purposes of his favour to Israel. It is a sign that God has not cast off his people, if he continues faithful ministers among them. Two reasons ar given why God blessed them with those victories: 1. Because the distress was very great, which made them objects of his compassion. 2 Because the decree was not yet gone forth for their destruction. Man prophets there had been in Israel, but none left prophecies in writin till this age, and their prophecies are part of the Bible. Hosea bega to prophesy in the reign of this Jeroboam. At the same time Amo prophesied; soon after Micah, then Isaiah, in the days of Ahaz an Hezekiah. Thus God, in the darkest and most degenerate ages of the church, raised up some to be burning and shining lights in it; to their own age, by their preaching and living, and a few by their writings, to reflect light upon us in the last times __________________________________________________________________
