King James Bible - Judges 11:33

And he smote them from Aroer, even till thou come to Minnith, even twenty cities, and unto the plain of the vineyards, with a very great slaughter. Thus the children of Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel.

World English Bible

He struck them from Aroer until you come to Minnith, even twenty cities, and to Abelcheramim, with a very great slaughter. So the children of Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel.

Douay-Rheims - Judges 11:33

And he smote them from Aroer till you come to Mennith, twenty cities, and as far as Abel, which is set with vineyards, with a very great slaughter: and the children of Ammon were humbled by the children of Israel.

Webster's Bible Translation

And he smote them from Aroer even till thou comest to Minnith, even twenty cities, and to the plain of the vineyards, with a very great slaughter. Thus the children of Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel.

VERSE (33) -
De 2:36

SEV Biblia, Chapter 11:33

Y los hirió de grandísimo estrago desde Aroer hasta llegar a Minit, veinte ciudades; y hasta la vega de las viñas. Así fueron dominados los amonitas delante de los hijos de Israel.

John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 33. And he smote them from Aroer , etc.] A city which lay near the
river Arnon, on the borders of Moab, ( Deuteronomy 3:12) even till thou come to Minnith ; which seems to have been a place famous for wheat, ( Ezekiel 27:17) so David de Pomis says it was a place where the best wheat grew. Jerom says in his time was shown a village called Mannith, four miles from Esbus (or Heshbon), as you go to Philadelphia. Josephus calls it Maniathe, and it is thought by some to be the Anitha of Ptolemy f236 , which he places in Arabia Petraea even “twenty cities”; which he pursued them through and took: and unto the plain of the vineyards, with a very great slaughter ; or, Abel Ceramim. Jerom says in his time was seen a village called Abela, planted with vineyards, seven miles from Philadelphia: thus the children of Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel ; so that they were not able to oppress them any more.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 29-40 - Several important lessons are to be
learned from Jephthah's vow. 1 There may be remainders of distrust and doubting, even in the hearts of true and great believers. 2. Our vows to God should not be as purchase of the favour we desire, but to express gratitude to him. 3 We need to be very well-advised in making vows, lest we entangl ourselves. 4. What we have solemnly vowed to God, we must perform, in it be possible and lawful, though it be difficult and grievous to us 5. It well becomes children, obediently and cheerfully to submit to their parents in the Lord. It is hard to say what Jephthah did in performance of his vow; but it is thought that he did not offer his daughter as a burnt-offering. Such a sacrifice would have been a abomination to the Lord; it is supposed she was obliged to remai unmarried, and apart from her family. Concerning this and some othe such passages in the sacred history, about which learned men ar divided and in doubt, we need not perplex ourselves; what is necessar to our salvation, thanks be to God, is plain enough. If the reade recollects the promise of Christ concerning the teaching of the Holy Spirit, and places himself under this heavenly Teacher, the Holy Ghos will guide to all truth in every passage, so far as it is needful to be understood __________________________________________________________________
