VERSE (31) -
Ex 3:3,4

SEV Biblia, Chapter 7:31

Entonces Moiss mirando, se maravill de la visin; y llegndose para considerar, fue hecha a l voz del Seor:

John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 31. When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight , etc.] To see a
bush on fire was no extraordinary thing; but to see a bush on fire, and yet not consumed by it, which was the case here, was wonderful indeed: and that an angel of the Lord, or the Lord himself, should appear in it, made it still more amazing; though, as yet, this was not observed by Moses, only the former; and which struck him with wonder, and excited his curiosity: and as he drew near to behold it ; to take a more exact view of it, and satisfy himself with the truth of it, and, if it was possible, to find out the reason why it was not burnt: the voice of the Lord came unto him ; to his ears, out of the bush, and expressed the following words.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 30-41 - Men
deceive themselves, if they think God cannot do what he sees to be good any where; he can bring his people into a wilderness, and ther speak comfortably to them. He appeared to Moses in a flame of fire, ye the bush was not consumed; which represented the state of Israel i Egypt, where, though they were in the fire of affliction, yet they wer not consumed. It may also be looked upon as a type of Christ's takin upon him the nature of man, and the union between the Divine and huma nature. The death of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, cannot break the covenant relation between God and them. Our Saviour by this proves the future state, Mt 22:31. Abraham is dead, yet God is still his God therefore Abraham is still alive. Now, this is that life an immortality which are brought to light by the gospel. Stephen her shows that Moses was an eminent type of Christ, as he was Israel' deliverer. God has compassion for the troubles of his church, and the groans of his persecuted people; and their deliverance takes rise from his pity. And that deliverance was typical of what Christ did, when for us men, and for our salvation, he came down from heaven. Thi Jesus, whom they now refused, as their fathers did Moses, even thi same has God advanced to be a Prince and Saviour. It does not at all take from the just honour of Moses to say, that he was but a instrument, and that he is infinitely outshone by Jesus. In assertin that Jesus should change the customs of the ceremonial law. Stephen wa so far from blaspheming Moses, that really he honoured him, by showin how the prophecy of Moses was come to pass, which was so clear. God wh gave them those customs by his servant Moses, might, no doubt, chang the custom by his Son Jesus. But Israel thrust Moses from them, an would have returned to their bondage; so men in general will not obe Jesus, because they love this present evil world, and rejoice in their own works and devices.

Vincent's NT Word Studies

31. The sight (to orama). Always in the New Testament of a vision. See on
Matt. xvii. 9.

To behold (katanohsai). See on Matt. vii. 3. Compare Luke xii. 24, 27.

Robertson's NT Word Studies

7:31 {The sight} (to horama). Used of visions in the N.T. as in #Mt 17:9. {As he drew near} (prosercomenou autou). Genitive absolute with present middle participle of prosercomai. {A voice of the Lord} (fwne kuriou). Here the angel of Jehovah of verse #30 is termed Jehovah himself. Jesus makes powerful use of these words in his reply to the Sadducees in defence of the doctrine of the resurrection and the future life (#Mr 12:26; Mt 22:32; Lu 20:37f.) that God here describes himself as the God of the living. {Trembled} (entromos genomenos). Literally, becoming tremulous or terrified. The adjective entromos (en, tromos from tremw, to tremble, to quake) occurs in Plutarch and the LXX. In the N.T. only here and #Ac 16:29. {Dare not} (ouk etolma). Imperfect active, was not daring, negative conative imperfect.
