Y quitado, lo envolvió en una sábana, y le puso en un sepulcro que era labrado de piedra, en el cual ninguno había aún sido puesto.

Ver. 53. And he took it down , etc.] From the cross, with the help of others, having obtained leave of Pilate so to do; and wrapped it in linen ; as was the custom of the Jews in burying their dead; (see Gill on “ Matthew 27:59”). and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone ; cut out of a rock; (see Gill on “ Matthew 27:60”). wherein never man before was laid ; so that it could not be said it was another body, and not that of Christ's, that was raised from the dead. This circumstance, serves to confirm the truth of his resurrection.

Verses 50-56 - Many, though they do not make any show in outward profession, yet, lik Joseph of Arimathea, will be far more ready to do real service, when there is occasion, than others who make a greater noise. Christ wa buried in haste, because the sabbath drew on. Weeping must not hinde sowing. Though they were in tears for the death of their Lord, yet the must prepare to keep holy the sabbath. When the sabbath draws on, ther must be preparation. Our worldly affairs must be so ordered, that the may not hinder us from our sabbath work; and our holy affections s stirred up, that they may carry us on in it. In whatever business we engage, or however our hearts may be affected, let us never fail to ge ready for, and to keep holy, the day of sacred rest, which is the Lord's day __________________________________________________________________

Second aorist active participle of kaqairew as in #Mr 15:46. {Wrapped} (enetulixen), as in #Mt 27:59 where #Mr 15:46 has eneilesen (wound), which see. #Joh 19:40 has "bound" (edesan). See Matt. and Mark also for the linen cloth (sindoni). {Hewn in stone} (laxeutwi). From laxeuw (las, a stone, xe", to polish). In the LXX and here only in the N.T. Nowhere else so far as known. See the usual Greek verb latomew in #Mr 15:46; Mt 27:60. {Where never man had yet lain} (hou ouk en oudeis oupw keimenos). Triple negative and periphrastic past perfect passive in sense (keimai), though periphrastic imperfect passive in form. Same item in #Joh 19:40 who uses en teqeimenos (periphrastic past perfect passive in form).
