King James Bible - Deuteronomy 14:24

And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee:

    World English Bible

    If the way is too
    long for you, so that you are not able to carry it, because the place is too far from you, which Yahweh your God shall choose, to set his name there, when Yahweh your God shall bless you;

    Douay-Rheims - Deuteronomy 14:24

But when the way and the
place which the Lord thy God shall choose, are far off, and he hath blessed thee, and thou canst not carry all these things thither,

    Webster's Bible Translation

And if the way is too
long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place is too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee:

    VERSE (24) -
    De 11:24; 12:21 Ex 23:31

    SEV Biblia, Chapter 14:24

Y si el camino fuere tan largo que tú no puedas llevarlos por él, por estar lejos de ti el lugar que el SEÑOR tu Dios hubiere escogido para poner en él su nombre, cuando el SEÑOR tu Dios te bendijere,

    John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 24. And if the way be too
long for thee , etc.] The way from the place where any Israelite might live: to carry it ; the tithe and the firstlings, it would be too expensive or too troublesome in any way that could be devised: or if the place shall be too far from thee, which the Lord thy God shall choose to set his name there ; which by the event appeared to be the city of Jerusalem, and this from some parts of the land of Canaan was very distant: when the Lord thy God hath blessed thee ; with a large increase of the fruits of the earth, and of flocks and herds.

    Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 22-29 - A second portion from the produce of their
land was required. The whol appointment evidently was against the covetousness, distrust, an selfishness of the human heart. It promoted friendliness, liberality and cheerfulness, and raised a fund for the relief of the poor. The were taught that their worldly portion was most comfortably enjoyed when shared with their brethren who were in want. If we thus serve God and do good with what we have, it is promised that the Lord our God will bless us in all the works of our land. The blessing of God is all to our outward prosperity; and without that blessing, the work of ou hands will bring nothing to pass. The blessing descends upon the working hand. Expect not that God should bless thee in thy idleness an love of ease. And it descends upon the giving hand. He who thu scatters, certainly increases; and to be free and generous in the support of religion, and any good work, is the surest and safest way of thriving __________________________________________________________________
