VERSE (54) -
:51 Mr 5:40

SEV Biblia, Chapter 8:54

Y l, echados todos fuera, tomndola de la mano, clam, diciendo: Muchacha, levntate.

Clarke's Bible Commentary - Luke 8:54

Verse 54. He put them all out] That is, the pipers and those who made a noise, weeping and lamenting. See
Matt. ix. 23; Mark v. 38. Pompous funeral ceremonies are ridiculous in themselves, and entirely opposed to the spirit and simplicity of the religion of Christ. Every where they meet with his disapprobation.

John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 54. And he put them all out , etc.] Of the
room, where the maiden lay, all the mourners and pipers; all excepting the parents of the child, and his three disciples, This clause is left out in the Vulgate Latin, and Ethiopic versions; nor was it in two of Beza's ancient copies, and in two of Stephens's; but in the rest, and in the other versions: and took hereby the hand, and called, saying ; in the Syriac language, Talitha cumi, as in ( Mark 5:41) Maid, arise ; (See Gill on Mark 5:41).

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 41-56 - Let us not complain of a
crowd, and a throng, and a hurry, as long a we are in the way of our duty, and doing good; but otherwise every wis man will keep himself out of it as much as he can. And many a poor sou is healed, and helped, and saved by Christ, that is hidden in a crowd and nobody notices it. This woman came trembling, yet her faith save her. There may be trembling, where yet there is saving faith. Observ Christ's comfortable words to Jairus, Fear not, believe only, and the daughter shall be made whole. No less hard was it not to grieve for the loss of an only child, than not to fear the continuance of that grief But in perfect faith there is no fear; the more we fear, the less we believe. The hand of Christ's grace goes with the calls of his word, to make them effectual. Christ commanded to give her meat. As babes ne born, so those newly raised from sin, desire spiritual food, that the may grow thereby __________________________________________________________________

54.
Maid (h paiv). Instead of the unclassical korasion, damsel, of Matthew and Mark.

Robertson's NT Word Studies

8:54 {Called} (efwnesen). Certainly not to wake up the dead, but to make it plain to all that she rose in response to his elevated tone of voice. Some think that the remark of
Jesus in verse #52 (#Mr 5:39; Mt 9:24) proves that she was not really dead, but only in a trance. It matters little. The touch of Christ's hand and the power of his voice restored her to life. {Maiden} (he pais) rather than Mark's (#Mr 5:41) to korasion (vernacular _Koin_).
