    VERSE (29) -
    Mt 21:1 *etc:

    SEV Biblia, Chapter 19:29

Y aconteci, que llegando cerca de Betfag, y de Betania, al monte que se llama de las Olivas, envi dos de sus discípulos,

    Clarke's Bible Commentary - Luke 19:29

    Verse 29. - 38. See this triumphal
entry into Jerusalem explained at large on Matt. xxi. 1-11, and Mark xi. 1-10.

    John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 29. And it came to pass when he was come nigh , etc.] The other
evangelists, Matthew and Mark, add unto Jerusalem; but this Luke designs afterwards, ( Luke 19:37) and therefore here means, as is expressed, that he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany ; two tracts of land which reached from Mount Olivet to Jerusalem; so that when he was there, he was nigh unto the city: at the mount, called [the Mount] of Olives ; or Elaion, as the Ethiopic version, which retains the Greek word for it; and which has its name from the great number of olive trees that grew upon it: he sent two of his disciples ; their names are not mentioned by any of the evangelists, but it is very probable they were Peter and John; of the places here mentioned; (see Gill on Matthew 21:1).

    Matthew Henry Commentary

    Verses 28-40 -
Christ has dominion over all creatures, and may use them as he pleases He has all men's hearts both under his eye and in his hand. Christ' triumphs, and his disciples' joyful praises, vex proud Pharisees, wh are enemies to him and to his kingdom. But Christ, as he despises the contempt of the proud, so he accepts the praises of the humble Pharisees would silence the praises of Christ, but they cannot; for a God can out of stones raise up children unto Abraham, and turn the stony heart to himself, so he can bring praise out of the mouths of children. And what will be the feelings of men when the Lord returns i glory to judge the world!

    Vincent's NT Word Studies

    29. Bethphage. See on
    Matt. xxi. 1.

    Robertson's NT Word Studies

    19:29 {Unto Bethphage and
Bethany} (eis beqfage kai beqania). Both indeclinable forms of the Hebrew or Aramaic names. In #Mr 11:1 "Bethany" is inflected regularly, which see. {Of Olives} (elaiwn). As in #Mr 11:1; Mt 21:1, though some editors take it to be, not the genitive plural of elaia (olive tree), but the name of the place Olivet. In the Greek it is just a matter of accent (circumflex or acute) Olivet is correct in #Ac 1:12. See on Mt 21:1ff.; Mr 11:1ff. for details.
