    VERSE (23) -
    Mt 13:16,17

    SEV Biblia, Chapter 10:23

    Y vuelto particularmente a sus discípulos, dijo: Bienaventurados los ojos que ven lo que vosotros veis;

    Clarke's Bible Commentary - Luke 10:23

    Verse 23.
    Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see] There is a similar saying to this among the rabbins, in Sohar. Genes., where it is said, "Blessed is that generation which the earth shall bear, when the King Messiah cometh."

    John Gill's Bible Commentary

    Ver. 23. And he turned him unto his
    disciples , etc.] Both to the twelve apostles, and seventy disciples; and said privately ; or to them apart: the phrase privately is wanting in the Vulgate Latin version: blessed are the eyes that see the things that ye see ; the person of the Messiah, his kingdom setting up in the world, miracles wrought by him, and Satan falling before him; (See Gill on Matthew 13:16).

    Matthew Henry Commentary

    Verses 17-24 - All our
    victories over Satan, are obtained by power derived from Jesu Christ, and he must have all the praise. But let us beware of spiritual pride, which has been the destruction of many. Our Lord rejoiced at the prospect of the salvation of many souls. It was fit that particula notice should be taken of that hour of joy; there were few such, for He was a man of sorrows: in that hour in which he saw Satan fall, an heard of the good success of his ministers, in that hour he rejoiced He has ever resisted the proud, and given grace to the humble. The mor simply dependent we are on the teaching, help, and blessing of the So of God, the more we shall know both of the Father and of the Son; the more blessed we shall be in seeing the glory, and hearing the words of the Divine Saviour; and the more useful we shall be made in promotin his cause.

    Robertson's NT Word Studies

    10:23 {Turning to the
    disciples} (strafeis pros tous maqetas). Second aorist passive of strefw as in #9:55. The prayer was a soliloquy though uttered in the presence of the Seventy on their return. Now Jesus turned and spoke "privately" or to the disciples (the Twelve, apparently), whether on this same occasion or a bit later. {Blessed} (makarioi). A beatitude, the same adjective as in #Mt 5:3-11. A beatitude of privilege very much like that in #Mt 5:13-16. Jesus often repeated his sayings.
